Le theme choisi nous procure une grande variete de vehicules utilises dans les exploitations forestieres.
Ils etaient souvent construits sur place avec du materiel de recuperation et adaptes a la situation.
Que ce soit les locomotives, les wagons, les batiments, ou memes les hommes, tous avaient "du caractere".
En voici une selection.

The subject chosen provides us with a great variety of cars used in lumbering.
They were often built on the site with old equipment and adapted to the situation.
Locomotives, cars, buildings, and the men also, all had a lot of "character".

FOURGON DE QUEUE
CABOOSE

Ce petit wagon, situe en fin de convoi, servait de bureau et surtout de serre-frein.
This little car was used as an office and especially used to brake the train.

LOCOMOTIVE KLUGGE
KLUGGE COFFEE POT

Cette locomotive a vapeur vive possede une chaudiere verticale chauffee au gaz.
This live steam locomotive has a vertical boiler gas-fired.

Vue cote gauche. La fausse pompe et la bache a eau qui cache la reserve de gaz.
Left view. The dummy pump and the water tank which hide the gas tank.

Quelques details. Le coffre renferme le recepteur de la telecommande et les piles.

CONSTRUCTION des VOIES
BUILDING of the TRACKS

Ce wagon est place en tete de convoi. Les ouvriers construisent la voie au fur et a mesure.
On y voit les rails, les traverses, les crampons dans le tonneau et l'outillage.
This car is placed at the beginning of the train. The workmen build the track as they avanced.
We can see rails, ties, spikes in the barrel and set of tools.

LOCOTRACTEUR
SWITCHER

Ce petit locotracteur sert a la manutention aux abords de la scierie.
This little switcher is used for the handling in the aera around the sawmill.

C'est un bi-cylindre refroidi par eau, allumage par magneto, transmission par chaine sous carter.
It is a twin engined cooled by water, magneto ignition, chain drive under casing.

Wagon servant au transport de minerai ou au ballast de la voie.
Car used for the transport of ore or the track ballast.

L'ouverture de la trappe se fait par le volant superieur.
The oppenning of the hatch is done by the top hand wheel.

GRUE
CRANE

Grue servant au chargement des billes de bois. Le matou se tient au chaud
Crane used to load the logs. The tomcat stays in the warmth.
